Travel + Leisure magazine listed Vietnam among 10 most ideal destinations for Indians to visit during the Diwali holiday thanks to a convenient flight connection and diverse travel experiences.

“Hosting a myriad of beaches, forests, paddy farms, and historical monuments, Vietnam has made its way into the bucket lists of many travelers in the past few years,” the Indian edition of the American luxury travel and lifestyle magazine said.

Currently, there are direct flights from major Indian cities to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Some services take around four hours and 50 minutes from New Delhi to Hanoi.

The magazine also recommended Vietnam for its cheap cuisine.

“The food here is incredibly inexpensive, and we recommend trying banh xeo, banh mi, pho, and cha ca at one of the many food stalls lined up on every street,” it said.

Diwali is considered India’s biggest and most important festival of the year. The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November).

This year, the festival starts from Oct. 24 and is considered a national holiday in India.

Other destinations in the list were Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, the UAE, Malaysia, Oman, Thailand, Seychelles and Maldives.

There were about 200,000 Indian visitors to Vietnam in 2019.
